Each commission is a highly detailed drawing of your loved ones that capture emotion, personality and memories to cherish forever. Each portrait is professionally drawn using high quality paper and pencils, specifically Faber-Castell Polychromos, Caran D'ache Luminance and Strathmore Bristol paper.

I also offer log slice commissions for a more affordable and looser style technique.

Below is a step-by-step process for commissioning your own portrait.

I also offer custom log slice commissions of our beloved pets as well as large framed commissions.

Log slice portraits are a more affordable option and incorporates a looser style to highlight the texture of the wood.

These log slices are a hanging natural design that matches any decor. A detailed photograph of your pets head is required.

Photo tips for a good reference photo

2.

Then you will need a good quality photograph of pets or people. A good reference photo is the key to a highly detailed drawing. Please refer to my top tips and good examples of a reference photograph.

It is very important to take the photo outside on a cloudy day or with the sun facing them. If you can't take a photo of them outside, then you can take the photo inside with the subject facing a window. It is essential that the light is facing the subject because if the light is behind them, I will not be able to see any detail or colours on their key features. i.e. their fur, eyes and nose etc.

The best idea is to tease your pet with a treat or a toy in order for them to stay still, face the light, show expression and look at the camera.

Once they are facing the light, you can get low to the subject's eye level and be close to them so that the camera can pick up the detail.

Good and bad examples of a reference photograph

I use one main photo to draw from which shows the best position and detail. However, I will always encourage you to send a selection of photos so I can get an overall view of your pet's character and colours. The colours and facial expressions in each photo may be different so I will combine each aspect together to create a drawing that reflects your furry best friend.

Please feel free to contact me for any advice on how to improve your photographs and make sure they are suitable to draw from.

I understand that some pets are sadly no longer with us but don't worry, I will do my best to work with the photographs you have.

I need original images sent to me in order to avoid any blurry photos, no screenshots or cropped photos.

Frame.

Frame colour choices

3.

Step 3 is to choose the colour of your frame. Each frame design adds the finishing touch to your portrait and it saves you the hassle in finding a frame yourself. However, if you have your own frame then that's absolutely fine, I will make sure the portrait is the appropriate size.

All frames come with a mount for your portrait which places an emphasis on the subject and makes it look more elegant. The frames are available in 5 colours (see photo).

The frames can be portrait or landscape and comes with an attached stand/hook depending on the size of your portrait.
